In Rieselfeld Wood.

100x80cm oil on canvas
While cycling in Rieselfeld, Freiburg, I was in search of a peaceful retreat. I discovered a fallen tree that had become a mouse's refuge. As I settled upon it, I became captivated by the sunlight filtering through the foliage, illuminating the grass with a luminous sheen. I captured this scene in a small watercolor sketch, accentuating some details from that spot. Later, in my studio, I created additional watercolor sketches and some black and white ones to enhance the contrast of dark and light values. Subsequently, I crafted an oil painting.
I chose to keep the foreground abstract, especially the red leaves scattered on the ground, to guide the viewer's gaze towards the middle and background—the glowing grass and the brilliant light beyond. The composition was intentionally minimalistic to evoke a sense of tranquility. This artwork is intended to aid the observer in finding calm, stillness of mind, and relief from overthinking.
